“When people succeed, it is because of hard work. Luck has nothing to do with success”.Do you agree or disagree with the quotation above?
Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.
Success can not be achieved without hard work. Warren Buffett, one of the world's greatest investors is famed for his discipline for studying financial statements. Bill Gates, the third richest person in the world, has spent a lot of time in his life working on computer science. However, it is unfair to assume that luck has nothing to do with success. The way to success must be the combination of hard work and luck.
Bill Gates once suggested that some of success is luck, just being in the right place at the right time. Supposed he had not been born in the
Actually, in life, some events happen and that can turn upside down one’s life. Let’s me tell you a true story of a professional athlete who had been training laboriously for years. It seemed that he had no opponent; everybody believed he would win a medal at the Olympic Games. Suddenly, he had a car accident and broke his right leg just one day before the competition; doctors gave him no chance of walking again. Clearly, he might have succeeded; he might have had a bright future. It was not his fault; it was because he had bad luck.
“Man proposes, God disposes”- it’s true. Never do I forget that exam which I had high expectation for. I was diligent in the studying process but was badly sick on the day of the exam. I seemed not to be able to remember anything, and finally had to get a bad result in frustration no matter how hard I had tried. My friend, on the other hand, didn’t make much efforts, yet still got a high mark.
It is undeniable that luck exerts a certain influence on our lives and hard work does not always amount to success. However, success comes from pure luck seems rarely to last long, great success must be the result of hard work, discipline and a little luck.

Ty, U did a great job, I like ur essay most ^^
The examples of Bill Gates & Warrent Buffett is repeated logically, using proverb appropriately, especially, ur own example is so funny =)). I guessed U still wince at that memo, baby ;))
In my opinion, you shouldn't include information about Bill Gate and Warrent Buffet in the introduction paragraph. I think it should be put in the second paragraph. Plus, I see your essay only have 1 reason to support your opinion that is "The way to success must be the combination of hard work and luck" and you need at least 3 reasons. 2nd, 3rd and 4th paragraph are only examples which support the idea that success is the combination of hardwork and luck.

Mai,
Pros : Your writing is doubtless the best among us, good connection between sentences and free-flowing ideas.
Cons : - too long opening and you didn't express your opinion clearly enough ( i did the same mistake actually ). 1st and 2nd para have a same idea
- Your essay backbone is not strong enough to earn you a good grade. Imo ( in my opinion ), you need more reasons to explain your idea. On another hand, examples which don't support any idea are useless ( your last example may does )
