Topic: We all work in our jobs with many different kinds of people. In your opinion, what are some characteristics of a co-worker (someone you work closely with) ?

In modern society, we tend to spend a lot of time at work and our co-worker may be the ones we communicate most frequently. Sometimes the work itself can become stressful; so it is important for us to get along with co-workers. To me, a good co-worker should be diligent, humorous and respectful.

When we work together, especially in a team, diligence is a must. Each member in a team undertakes a different task, which is a part of project. If I am hard-working to run your task well and meet the deadlines while my co-worker is not, the whole plan of company will be possibly ruined. Hence, a good co-worker should at first devote himself to work.

Secondly, my co-worker should have sense of humor. I am usually put under high pressure of work; then how terrible I will feel if I am rounded with always-serious faces. What I need is a pleasant working environment and sometimes, a good joke may cheer me up. I strongly believe that humor enhances creativity as well as productivity, and people can laugh together can work well together.
Last but not least, people at workplace should respect others. Respect is a basis to build a good relationship. Could I comfortably collaborate with a person who likes talking behind my back? Also, I feel unpleasant when hearing gossip. Each of us has a personal life should be respected. In addition, we come from different backgrounds, so have different styles of living and habits, which we never want to be laughed by our colleagues. Only when we show respect to each others can we be in a good mood to work together.
We can hardly achieve successful working results without the help of a good co-worker. I will feel glad if I can work with a person who is diligent, humorous and respectful.

Topic: Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? People should sometimes do things that they do not enjoy doing. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

We, human being, always have some things we do not enjoy but sometimes still should do them. It is because of others’ expectation, of daily demands and because they may be beneficial for us in future and even may be exciting as well.

When we were children, we hardly felt excited about what parents asked us to do like eating vegetables, going to bed early, studying industriously,...We considered them obligations which were boring and useless. It is not until when we grow up do we realize that obeying parents is fundamental in our development. What we call “obligations” creates our manners and knowledge which prepares us for the things to come and follow us during life time. At the age of teen, I was very naughty and sometimes really disobedient, I hate doing what my parents thought I should do. Supposed if I had left school at that time, I would never have an outcome today, being a student of a famous university in my country. Studying, however, turns out being of fun and excitement.

Many working people feel exhausted of their jobs but they can not leave off work and go to the beach to enjoy a long holiday. Because they have children who are at school ages and must be fed up. Because they need money to ensure daily demands for their family and for themselves. They should keep working though they do not like it.

We survive together in community, therefore we should sometimes live up to others’ expectation, especially of our beloved ones. When I was sixteen, I absolutely did not want to take part in a classic dancing competition. However, my grandmother, who was in the hospital expected me to join it, she was always proud of me. And to make her happy, I tried a lot and won silver medal in that competition.

In short, I totally agree that we should sometimes do the things we do not enjoy. We find it hard but let try to think about positive results.

Topic: Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? People should sometimes do things that they do not enjoy doing. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Many people think that if they have to do things that they do not enjoy, the result will be very bad. However, I oppose this thought. I totally believe that sometimes we do things we hate we can find new things that we can interest and change our attitude.

I admit that sometimes we can found something new if we do things we have never enjoy before. I have a cousin who is younger than me. His mother told me that he used to hate going to the bookstore. He thought that place is boring, and it was better to search e-books and read e-books in the computer. But once time, his mother forced him to go to the bookstore near his house to buy her a cooking book. He did not enjoying this so much but he still went. At the bookstore, he met a new friend and had an interested conversation with her. Then she became his best friend.  If my cousin did not go to the bookstore that day, maybe, he would have never found that best friend.

In addition, doing things we never like can make us change our attitute. My friend used to hate classical music. He considered that it was boring and difficult to understand. He loved Rock and Rap music. However, last year I introduced him a symphony writen by Vivaldi named four seasons. And he tried to listen to that symphony. After that he told me with the happiness that it was the first time he found the peace from classical music. From that time, he changed his attitude about classical music. Now he loves this kind of music, and listen to it everyday.

In conclusion, doing things we hate make us unhappy, but sometimes it can bring new things to us, change our attitude that can change our life. We do not need to do things that we do not like but sometimes doing that things can benefit us.

Topic: We all work in our jobs with many different kinds of people. In
your opinion, what are some characteristics of a co-worker (someone
you work closely with)?

Nowadays, the amount of work of our projects is very huge, so all of
us have to cooperate with other people to do projects. Co-workers are
key members because they can decide if our projects are success or
fail. Thus, I totally believe that a co-worker must be hardworking,
smart and truthful.

One of the colleague's crucial characteristics is hardworking.
Usually, we divide our project into many parts. Each colleague will
have responsibility to solve each part. If any co-worker is lazy, he
can not finish his work on time. This can make projects not be
finished on the due day.

Apart from hardwork, a co-worker needs to be smart. I think that a
smart person can give many ideas to solve problems. One time, when I
worked in my company's project and we needed to collect data of
customers' need. One of my colleague suggested we use volunteer to do
this work. This brilliant idea saved us a lot of time and money.

Finally, truthfulness is also an important characteristic a co-worker
needs. A truthful person never lie, and he often straightly shows
flaws of other co-workers. I belive that this help all of members in a
team recognize their mistakes and prevent the projects from the
failure in the future.

In summary, co-workers are important persons who with us finish our
work. Hardwork, smart and truthfulness are the most important
characteristics, I think, that a colleague needs. Without any of those
features, a co-worker is not ideal to work with.=

Topic 3: In some countries, teenagers have jobs while they are still students. Do you think this is a good idea? Support your opinion by using specific reasons and details

Nowadays, there are more and more teenagers have jobs while they are still students. For me, it has been a precious working experience to have some of part time jobs when being at university. Therefore, I absolutely agree with that phenomenon for a numerous reason and I would explore only a few of the important ones here.

There is a saying that real life is the biggest school. Students may be educated many knowledge and skills at school but the only way to intensify them is practicing in real life. Part time job is one of the most suitable chances for them to advance their knowledge. For example, economy students study not too little subject which concern with their faculty like marketing, business administration, produce administration, accounting, auditing… Sometime, theories may be too boring for them to set question themselves: Is it really important to study those entire subjects? When students have job, like a shop assistant... They will think about how to raise their sales, how to attract customer…At that time, it automatically for them to recognize the necessaries of deeply thinking and knowledge for almost business activities. Moreover, the theories which are put into practice is difficult to forget and obvious to understand. Those things will make progresses in student’s studies.

The other important point is student will be more confident and dynamic if they have job during school time. Job requires them to communicate with many strangers, to satisfy all customers, or to be agile with changes… If students aren’t dynamic, they will easily to loose their job. They may be like a fish out of water at the fist moment but after a short time, they must move themselves for suitable with their job. From all the hard-workings, the students will be mature, and well - prepared for their future jobs. Many millionaires had a part time job during their school time. Therefore, we can’t suppose to be attracted by the part time job always accompany with failure. Michael Dell is one of the most typical examples for hard working during school time. His part time job, seeking subscribers for Houston Post magazine, had not only brought him his first BMW car but also exposed his business talent at the ages of seventeen. Mark Cuban _ the America technology millionaire is not an exception. He did many works, from doing bar business, teaching dancing... to advertising service for earning enough tuition. In addition, the results of part time jobs may motivate students to become more and more confident in their abilities.

Last but not least, nowadays, experience counts for more than qualifications. The difference between school and real life makes almost companies prefer the people who have worked. Especially in the managing positions, there is no doubt that the people who have experiences in many-concerned field can be promoted easier than the one who only got a managing degree. Therefore, if you want to get a satisfactory job after graduating, you should take experiences as much as possible when you are still at school.

Working brings student experiences, confidences, money and a brighter curriculum vitae… Thus, I come to conclusion, that for me, having a job during the study time is acceptable

In some countries, teenagers have jobs while they are still students. Do you think this is a good idea? Support your opinion by using specific reasons and details.

One fact we cannot deny is that nowadays, there are more and more students seeking jobs while they are still undergraduates. Of course having a job while studying brings you both good and bad effects. But for me, good things are many more than bad so I will say it's a "yes" if you come and ask me which side I go for.

The first bad thing we can see clearly for ourselves is that we will be distracted from our main task, and by main task I mean study. Since we have to spend time on searching for a suitable job, we have to spend 4 to 5 hours per day for the least on that job if that is just a part-time job, not to mention a full time job. And that means out time budget will be reduced. Then there is a second bad thing: we will get tired easily because of so many works: studying, chores, hanging out with friends...and last but not least: that part-time job. Surely we will neglect on our study and this is absolutely not good since studying is the most important thing we students have to do to achieve success on our future career.

But we cannot deny the so many benefits brought to us through that job. The first and the most practical benefit is; of course the money we earn from that job. No more "mom, i'm out of money" and we can buy some new clothes replacing those so out of date messy. Then there are other invisible benefits: we have chances to make new relations, to gain more experience and to learn from practice changing everyday not from a bunch of so call permanent theories at the university. And this is the fundamental reason why I will go for the idea of seeking a job while studying.

The point is that we should try our best to manage our time budget between studying and working and other stuffs. Actually not all of us can do such thing but for me, I will say "Hey, dynamic people of new generation, let's give it a try" because it's worth that.

Nowadays, we can see a lot of students having jobs while they are still studying. It doesn’t mean that we have lack of adult labors or these teenagers are forced to work underage, in fact, almost all of them were looking for a job themselves. I think it is a good idea because they can gain a lot of benefit from their jobs without affecting their own study.
To begin with, the first benefit they get from their jobs is obviously their salary. They use their salary in many different ways. Some teenagers spend money on their tuition or other payments while others use the money they earned as their pocket money. Whichever ways they use their money, they start not to depend on their parents’ money as well as learn about the value of money. Using the money they hardly earned, teenagers will be more careful before spending money on anything. Learning about the money value in this early age will help them a lot in the future.

In some countries, teenagers have jobs while they are still students. Do you think this is a good idea? Support your opinion by using specific reasons and details.

I used to be a teenager and I used to have part time jobs while being at high school. At that time, people, especially adults gave me a lot of reasons and a load of worries in order to prevent me from working – “It will harm your health”, “It will influence badly on your study”, “it is no use for a teenager like you”...... But what happened to me? I was employed when being a monitor, volunteering for charity work and my grade did not drop. I honestly think it is a good idea that teenagers have part time jobs while still students; they will gain many benefits.

The most obvious advantage is that they can earn money. Teenagers have a lot of expenses – clothes, books, extra-curricular activities, hanging-out with friends....They can not ask their parents for money all the time, so may not be able to buy an exciting book or miss school camping. Part time jobs, however, help them cover these costs.

Some people believe if teens have much money, they will spend on wasteful, even harmful things; part time jobs are not good for them, therefore. The fact is actually opposite their belief. Jobs offered to teenagers are almost low- wage and manual ones like baby-sitting, dog walking, pet care or dishwashing. When working, they learn that money does not come easy; then form better spending way.

Moreover, part time jobs are the key open society door. They are exposed to people from variety of backgrounds, so can build communication skill. For example, when working as cashier in a mall, they have to communicate with many people, from a doctor to an entrepreneur, from a rich lady to a poor unemployed person, from a five year boy to an old man; sometimes must handle with awkward situations. Clearly, part time jobs help them get experience prepared to get out in the real world and somehow make them more mature than just sitting at school.

Last but not least, having jobs is a fantastic way to teach teenagers about responsibility and discipline which will be beneficial to them later in life. They must learn how to manage time efficiently so that they can keep up with studying at school. In work, they must be always on time and make sure their task run well.

“A little hard work never hurt anyone”. I totally agree with this saying. Part time jobs give teenagers a lot of benefits that help them to grow up. This experience may be an unforgettable memory in their life.

Topic 2- Mai

Some people believe that university students should be required to attend classes. Others believe that going to classes should be optional for students. Which point of view do you agree with? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.

The biggest difference between high schools and colleges is that colleges treat their students as adults. Children are forced by law to attend school, but adults are not. Therefore, no college student should be required to attend classes.

In fact, some teachers always complain about the students who are absent from classes. They keep conservative opinion that these students are lazy and are forecasted to get bad studying results, then mandatory attendance policy is implemented strictly in their classes. Yet, have they ever wondered if the reason of students’ absence turns out to be their lectures? Some professors just read from Power Point presentation or from books students already have, ramble and ramble about a topic in a monotonous voice, which make students feel sleepy. And because they take points off for missing classes, the motivation for most students to attend classes is to get their points.

College is so much more than just classes; sports, clubs, part-time jobs, social activities like fund raise for charity or organize events...all play an important role on students’ lives and help them perfect their skills besides academics at school. Once in a while, students can not either attend classes or join these activities. They must trade-off, they must manage their time and take responsibilities for what they do. At the age of college students, over 18, they have already reached maturity stage; therefore, can make rational decisions.

In addition, many students can study on their own, they find it more efficiently than just attending lectures. They spend time studying at the library, finding materials by themselves; this way, on the other hand, practices students’ independence in learning. A student who does not attend classes all the time does not mean that he is a lazy and bad one with always low grades. And the core of the issue is that most students enter the colleges with their own free will. In other words, they actually want to study there, they actually want to gain knowledge prepared for their future; hence, they actually don't need much persuasion to attend classes.

In short, I honestly think mandatory attendance policy should not be enforced at college level. Professors are not baby-sits of students who are adults. This policy places a burden on both professors and students; therefore make them uncomfortable when teaching and studying.

Topic: In some countries, teenagers have jobs while they are still students. Do you think this is a good idea? Support your opinion by using specific reasons and details.

Many people think that teenagers should focus on their study and they should not have a job. However, I refute this idea. I strongly believe that jobs can provide teanagers with experience, let them know why they have to save money and help them be familiar with working environment.

Firstly, jobs can give students a lot of experience that is very useful for them in their future. For instance, they can teach a small group. This provides them not only experience about how to explain something clearly but also patience to help their students understand lessons. This is an advantage in their future teaching job. Another example is that teenagers can have a part-time job as a baby-sister. This kind of job does not take their time much but it give them a chance to take care of and play with young kids. Thus in the future when they have childrens they will know how to teach and play with them.

Secondly, with a job teenagers will know earning money is not easy, so they will save money. Nowadays many boys and girls waste their parents' money in buying new clothes which they never wear and useless parties. They spend money as if they would have how much they want. It is because these people never have to work to earn money so they think earning money is the easiest work in the world. Only do they have a job, they will know it is very hard to earn a little. That time they will learn why they need to save money.

Finally, a job helps teenagers be familiar with working environment. Many adult people found that working environment is very competitive and stressful. This take them a lot of time to familiar this environment. However, to teenagers who have jobs, competition or stress is not a big problem when they are adults. It is because they are familiar with them and they know how to manage stress, how to be good competitors. This help them be confident and do their job effectively.

In conclusion, jobs give students much useful experience, teach them saving money and help them be familiar with working environment. I totally believe that teenagers have jobs when they are students will be successful persons in the future.

Topic: Some people believe that university students should be required to attend classes. Others believe that going to classes should be optional for students. Which point of view do you agree with? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.

Almost intellective works in our modern life require university degree or the other equivalent qualification. A question, which is set up is: If our time at university has no meaning, why do all the employers always choose it like the first priority? In my opinion, each of our school time has in owned role, so the university students should be required to attend classes because of some reasons below.

Firstly, training program at university is compiled by many experience teachers and professors so it can bring you a lot of the basic knowledge, acquainted circumstances and how to deal with them. Sometime you may think that all understanding is not necessary but in fact, it will help you not to be a fish out of water at your fist job. For example, in one competitive examination into a bank, there are some question like how many parts of balance sheet? Where does the stock’s income come from?... All that question would solve quickly if you usually attend class in university. In addition, knowledge is chain of studying, and if you absent from class in university, you may loose a lot of foundation learning. Further more, some people want to learn higher or become a teacher, or a professor of their main major, at that moment, university’s time becomes more important. That’s doubtless when no student want to come to class of an teacher who known that always absent from class before. He can’t teach anyone when he himself didn’t do the thing ^^

Secondly, being in class in the university is not just for taking the certification.Supposed the knowledge in book is just an theory, the class’s time still have ability to supply you real experience. In class, the teacher can share their experience that you may not find in any flashy book. Studying and doing exercises in group also bring you a good practicing of communication skills. All that exercise is not too difficult so you can solve it by yourself or learn how to do from your friends or your teacher. It’s sure that you’ll make progress if you spend more time for learning in class.

Last but not least, some student pleads boring of the class so that they wasting their time in bad work: They go out for drink, eating, chatting.... or even playing gamble. And who knows how many thing they can do when they are always absent from class? There are a lot of students who came abroad for studying, but in fact they didn’t study hard. They always absent from class, and it’s caused falling all the exams. No one can be sure that you’ll study or go out for play when you don’t attend class.

Even you are considered a genius, you still need to go to university. Bill Gates, one of the most successful and richest man in the world, absented from university at his third year for his starting up business. But in his life, he always regret about what he did. Therefore, he came back to university for studying seriously. That’s one more evidence why all the student shouldn’t waste their class time.

Some people believe that university students should be required to attend classes. Others believe that going to classes should be optional for students. Which point of view do you agree with? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer

Some people believe that university students should be required to attend classes. Others believe that going to classes should be optional for students. In the modern life when university students can have a lot of activities outside of class and sometimes feel tired of coming to class everyday, they think that going to class as an option can be a solution. It is true that following the class schedule may take some efforts but it will repay you well. From my point of view, university student should be required to attend classes for their own good.

First of all, attending classes helps you create a habit of studying. The class schedule often gives you enough time to study and rest then you can obtain lessons in a best way. Moreover, it is easier for you to arrange your own time table with the class schedule. By that way, you can easily arrange time for other activities while still keeping up with your study.

Secondly, attending classes gives you chances to do experiment and research with best equipments and support from your tutor. Universities today is not only a place where students can study but also libraries, academies, workshops or laboratories which contain everything students need for their study. In addition, you can find a full support from your professors whenever you get into troubles. You can’t find anywhere other than university has such a good condition for your study

Last but not least, you can study, work, share your opinion and learn from others with other students in class. Everybody knows that group study and teamwork give you more advantage than studying by yourself. Accordingly, you can improve yourself much faster with your friends not only with your main major but also with teamwork skill, communication and more.

Finally, attending classes gives you more benefit than you thought. University provides you almost everything you need for your study and helps you easily obtain information. Anyway, how perfect the university education is, it's not the only source of information. there are many different way you can study like from the internet, social network or TV and if you want to have an entire view of any issue, you are encouraged to try any sources of information of which you think are nessecary

Topic 2: Some people believe that university students should be required to attend classes. Others believe that going to classes should be optional for students. Which point of view do you agree with? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.

Many people think that university students have to go to classes. However, I oppose this idea, students should have an option that attending classes or not. I totally believe that students can gain knowledge from other sources beside classes. In addition they need to improve their self-learning ability and apply their knowledge in the real world.

Students can get a lot of knowledge from many sources such as books, internet, TV and other medias. Nowadays, these sources are very popular and easily assessible. They contain many updated information with many attitudes of authors. These sources help students widen their knowledge. Plus, students can compare information they get with lessons their professor provides in classes. This not only help them understand the content of lessons clearly but also update new information relating to lectures.

Apart from learning from sources beside classes, students should improve their self-learning. Self-learning not only provides students with an opportunity to be independent but also help them be more active in learning. If students only go to classes everyday to study, they will denpend on their professors and teaching assistants. They only do assignments that their professors ask and only know information that professors provide. This make them become inactive persons. This also their disadvantage when they find or do their future job.

Finally students need to apply knowledge they have in the real world. In my opinion this is a part of learning. When students practice what they learn can know what is the different between the theory and the reality. This help them know what they need to study further. If students is required to attend classes, they may not have time to practice what they learn. I think it is really bad students who only know theory. This can prevent them from promotion in their career in the future.

Ultimately, attending class is important but it should be optional for students. Students can get much of knowledge from books, internet and many other medias beside classes. And they need more self-learning time and pratice what they study in the real world.

Topic 1: "When people succeed, it is because of hardwork. Luck has nothing to do with success." Do you agree or disagree with the quotation above? Use specific reasons and examples to explain your position.

Some people think that people achive success because they have luck. However in my opinion luck has nothing to relate directly to success. People obtain success because they work very hard. In addition, luck is
a part of hardwork. Finally success is a process, not a destination.

Only by working hard, people can be successful. For instace, a famous singer such as Michael Jackson can not achive many awards by luck. To obtain awards and praise from audience, he has to practice singing and dancing everyday and prepare carefully before performance. Like singers, atheletes also have to take exercises everyday. If they do not do so, they may get a small award but it is the last award they can get. An anthelete can not be considered successful if he only get one award.

In addition, luck is a part of hardwork. In other words, people have luck just because they work hard everyday and never give up. In our life, opportunities come to us everyday. However most of people can not catch these chances because their lack of abilities or they do not recognize them. Only people who work hard all day to heighten their abilities can catch these opportunities to achive success.

Finally, success is not a destination, I think it is a process. When a person decide to work hard to promise to achive something, he is going on the way of the success. Anyone who has luck can only finish a small part of this way and they can not go farther. Only person who is hard working and never give up can be on the way of the success all his life. In my opinion, only this kind of person can be considered successful person.

In conclusion, luck can not help people obtain the success as they want. It is because success is a process. Besides, luck is only a small part of hardwork and people can not be successful if they are not hardworking.

check it out guy !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi guys

DA, “Delta” book is required. U can buy it at Trang bookstore, we ve 8 CDs already so u can burn them for saving money.

I think u should meet 2 times a week. I’m available every night and from 3 pm on Monday, Thursday and Friday and the weekend. I suggest Thursday from 3pm to 5pm and Sunday from 2pm to 4.30pm. Did u suggest any place which must be low-priced, quiet and comfortable :D. Hey DA, could u take ur laptop with u ? We need the first meeting as soon as possible. I used to be a student of an insane teacher, mr manh, so I will give u some experience.

Writing has 2 parts, we re practicing one of them; another’s actually not easy at all because u must listen to a lecture that’s normally tough; then write an essay about the topic of the lecture +_+ I’m really stuck of it. So listening is a very very important skill in Toefl ibt, do serious hard work on it for that reason. Try to listen as much as possible, make a timetable for urself.

Reading is neither easy but the most difficult questions re usually related to synonymous words. This problem can be solved by the book named “Essential words for toefl”. Get it at Trang bookstore guys. Btw, we have another crazier problem, it drives me nut when trying to remember these weird words +_+. So we plan to learn 75 words equivalent to 5 lessons a week. It’s easy to forget, so we will turn round the book when we finish it. We will have a test of 45 words on the 1st meeting day and 30 words on the 2nd. Each of us will be responsible for preparing tests in turn.

Speaking has different parts, I will tell u later ^_^
but here is the schedule for independent task. Prepare carefully guys

The maximum for this task is 45 minutes. Don’t try to talk over time cause the machine will cut this part.

Topic: When people succeed, it’s because of handwork. Luck has noting to do with success. Do u agree or disagree with this statement?

U had to spend over 10 years at school, a couple of years at university. However, after graduating, U still only got a salary from 150$ - 300$. So when will u get enough money for your owned car or a house...with that income ? Hardworking only make u to live in an easy circumstances but luck can bring you more than that ^^

If a person win in a lottery, which worth several billion of dollars, they’ll become millionaire only after one night. He get a big luck that cause jealousy of many other people with doing nothing. Earning money by luck always is dream of almost people, who spent not too little money on prize, poker, house – race... Or even when we was a child, didn’t know anything about treasure or power, we still desire fortune smile on us so that we can be married a pretty prince like in a fairy tale. It can not be deny that sometime luck can bring us to success as fast as unbelievable.

What would be happen if u studied hard in a long time before the exam and u got a bad sick right before that day? What could an athlete do with broken leg in an competition days? Would David Copperfield cry if he forgot all his important equipments right before going through The Great Wall, nomatter how many time of practicing? No one can say one of them were lazy with their works, but they could lost a chance of their lives simply just because of destiny. It’s no wrong when saying that sometime hardworking could lead us nothing.

However, what come easily, go easily. U’ve awarded a lot of things which don’t mean that u can keep all them with you forever. If u don’t work at least for managing ur money, mountain of property also will run away soon. None of millionaires don’t have to work hard, Bill Gates read hundred of books in a year since he was an students, music genius Mozart also spent over 30 years of his short life for working and even inherited wealthy like William prince still has to learn and work like any normal man.

Luck and hard work always go together. U can’t not be idle to wait God compassion, and u absolutely can’t win the destiny, too. Therefore, I’d like to working hard for my future, and also keep seeking a chance in my life.
